History |
 |
Mining was a huge industry in Drumheller
and surrounding areas. The miners lived in very small houses owned by
the railroad, and rented for $5.25 per month. A typical shack was
10X14 Ft. As the mines closed and the railroads moved, they also
moved the small houses. The communities disappeared overnight. Only
a few still remain in the area. Some houses in the Drumheller Valley
still have a core that was originally just a little shack upon which
addition were added.
